I began my interest in photography as a teenager. Maybe growing up in the beautiful southwest with scenic landscapes and having a canyon in my backyard had something to do with my love of art and nature. My senior year, I saved up money all summer long from lawn mowing jobs to buy my first 35 mm SLR camera. In college I began to develop my own film and pictures prior to the advent of digital photography. I have always loved art and photography but did not really see it being a practical career choice and thus I pursued my other love, psychology. For the last 15+ years, I have worked full time as a clinical and forensic psychologist and keep photography as my hobby and passion. What you see in my photography is a love for artistic images and many techniques (aerial, astrophotography, underwater, abstract…) and subjects (landscapes, portrait, athletes, products…). I really don’t discriminate when I see something that has great light, beauty, or interest and I really want to capture it.

My work has also been influenced by the raising of two beautiful daughters and becoming their synchronized swimming team’s photographer.

I have been most recognized for this work, having published online with National Geographic, Vogue Italia, and the Smithsonian Magazine. I have also received awards and honorable mentions from International Photography Awards (IPA) and Siena International Photography Awards (SIPA), two of the biggest photography contests in the world. If you visit me on Instagram, you will also see that I been a finalist in many smaller IG themed photography contests via @outfotoworld and @photowalkglobal, both sites run by previous National Geographic winners. Lately I have been investing time in a lot of portraiture work (seniors, swimmers, conceptual projects); a relatively new area for me but which has turned out to be a lot of fun! Feel free to contact me if you want to collaborate on a project or have your portrait taken! The possibilities are endless and endlessly fun!
